San Jose Piano Lessons is a collective of piano teachers with varying backgrounds with one ideal in common: that there is a musician within everyone waiting to be discovered.
Whether you are an advanced player or a beginner, whether you're searching for a teacher for your young child or yourself, our mission is to provide the highest-quality private piano lessons and tutoring at an affordable cost. Not only do we offer our teaching to those who want to learn how to master any style of piano, but we also offer online lessons, both as one-on-one lessons through video chat and through pre-made recordings. This means we can also give lessons to professionals who don't have time or those with a packed schedule and students outside of the area. While each instructor is equally capable of teaching all styles of piano, each one also excels in one particular style. Whether you want to learn how to play jazz piano, classical piano, or modern pop, our team is fully capable of improving your expression, knowledge, and overall musicianship.
Music theory is a must for all forms of piano; all of our teachers realize the importance of music theory and set time aside to create a strong foundation for music performance and learning by developing their students' pitch, teaching students musical terms, and giving students exercises appropriate for what the pupil wants and needs. Our instructors are interested in giving helpful suggestions, information, and strategies for the development of our students' skills.

All of our instructors are highly trained in communicating core concepts such of rhythm, harmony, and melody. Abilities in pitch, expression, identification, and notation are developed through our teachers' knowledge of the necessary content. Most of the time, regardless of which type of music lesson you are taking, music theory will be taught. However, we have found it extremely valuable to place extra importance on these skills as they translate into better playing, better practicing, better improvising, better reading, and just about every other kind of advancement in musicianship.

While "brain games" that you can find on the app store of your mobile phone only train your brain to perform better on those specific games, the game of learning an instrument takes the term "brain workout" to a whole different level - especially if we're talking about learning piano.
Playing instruments trains your brain to interconnect different areas as fast as possible, as accurately as possible: you need to look at what you're doing, you need to move your body to make a sound, and you need to listen to what sounds you're making. Studies have found that musicians' brains, during music practice, activate in areas related to those three activities, but also math, language, and even smaller areas: for example, when even low-skilled pianists play music, the part of their brain responsible for copying someone else essentially turns off - players are more original, and thus, creative! The science is fairly new, but it's clear in the research that playing an instrument makes you smarter and fosters creativity and originality! |

My grandson Ayrton Vergara was only 4.5 years old when his family decided to get him piano lessons. His father found Shahin and since then he has been a blessing to the entire family. Shahin is a young talented musician with an intuitive nature who was able to get our young son to learn music in a focused manner; to sing with rhythm; to learn and love numbers through counting; and; to learn how to read music. In spite of not being able to practice daily; he continues to progress under Shahin. Irrespective of the mood Ayrton is in Shahin finds a way to turn him around and enjoy each and every lesson. Ayrton has musical happiness and feels like he is accomplishing something substantive because of Shahin.
